where we go

Uruguay

Uruguay has a rich cultural heritage influenced by Spanish and Italian immigrants, focused on family, soccer, and enjoying mate together.

Uruguay is one of the most beautiful countries in South America—rolling countryside, coastal cities, and a rich culture. Yet it is also one of the most secular nations in the world, where most people have little connection to the Gospel. Nearly 40% of Uruguayans claim no religious affiliation. This creates a unique opportunity for the local church to build relationships, disciple believers, and plant churches in communities that rarely hear the message of Christ.

Gustavo & Dani Huamani

Originally from Peru, Gustavo entered seminary at age 17 with a desire to better serve God, where he developed a growing passion for missions. During his third year, he began traveling to remote villages in the Andes Mountains near Arequipa, Peru, sharing the Gospel house to house—often walking or traveling by bus or motorbike to reach distant communities. Gustavo married his wife Danitza in 2007, and together they are raising their children Camila, Kary, and Gustavito. Today, the Huamani family serves as missionaries in Uruguay, one of the most secular countries in Latin America. Burdened by the spiritual need in a nation where many people have no religious belief, they are committed to planting and strengthening house churches through discipleship and evangelism, faithfully seeking to bring the hope of the Gospel to communities across the country.
