Open Doors in Indonesia
Praise God for an amazing mission trip to Indonesia where a team shared the gospel with 2,000 public high school students and encouraged more than 1,000 believers in local churches. The international team of 10 came from Malaysia, Australia, America, and Indonesia to spend 10 days visiting schools and churches across Nias Island.
“Many of the older churches have become very traditional and religious with no passion for reaching the lost,” says Phil Plowman, director of Missionary Ventures Association of Southeast Asian Nations (MV/ASEAN). “However, there are also many new churches where the people are hungry for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and have a passion for more of God in their lives.”
The team saw God at work as they traversed challenging roads and sometimes had to walk to arrive at their next destination. They preached at schools and saw many students indicate decisions for Christ. They also taught at seven churches, praying for hundreds of people, and spent two full days teaching and encouraging 160 students who are being trained to be sent as church planters. “This was our 6th mission team to Nias and it’s exciting to see more churches and schools opening up to us all across Nias,” says Phil.
“The anointing and power of the Holy Spirit was very evident in the preaching, teaching, sharing and praying,” says Phil. “We saw the healing power of God and hundreds were born into God’s kingdom. It even began to rain again after more than 100 days of drought in answer to prayer.
We believe it is a Kairos time for Nias and we are experiencing many open doors and requests for mission teams to work with the churches and see revival come to Nias.”
